Mixology: Chocolate Martini

Disclaimer: Drinking alcohol is not a healthy practice and shouldn't ever be more than an occasional thing, if not at all, and should only be done legally, responsibly and in a safe environment.

Alrighty, so I told you that I got some less than savory news a few days ago, and since then I've been pretty "blah," but my excellent girlfriends came to my rescue last night! I happen to have two gorgeous gal-pals who are always there to support me (and me them cuz we tight!) and when they heard the news too they rushed to my side!

One of my buds, Amanda, happens to be a very good working bartender so she knew just what I needed: a healthy dose of chocolate! She's been making Stacy, herself and I deeeliiiciiiooous chocolate martinis and here is her scrumptious recipe if y'all feel inclined to add a little delicacy to your drink!

  • 2 oz. Pinnacle Whipped Cream flavored vodka
  • 2 oz. Bols regular Creme de Cacao
  • 1 ounce Cointreau

  • There are a lot of other chocolate martinis recipes out there, but this happens to be our fave because it's relatively cheap to make and only requires three ingredients (some have a lot more bells and whistles). If you're interested in checking out a few other recipes then here are a few of the most delicious sounding concotions I found on the web:

    Martini Art's Chocolate Collection
    Heavenly Chocolate Martini
    Mexican Chocolate Martini

    Self-Proclaimed Bootist: Fall 2010

I'm not really affiliated with any religion, but if I had to pick one I guess I would say that I'm a "Bootist". That is, I follow the Order of the Boot, and I wear only fashionable, comfortable and exquisite boots. There are no disgusting lamé or quilted boots in my closet, nor do I own Uggs or anything with fringe. With boot season quickly approaching I did a once over on the boot section of my closet and realized something very distressing though: I don't own any 2009/2010 fashionable Fall or Winter boots!

I've been anticipating Fall and Winter because it means I can pull out my boots and strut my stuff without getting stinky boot-foot from the Summer heat. But what's better than wearing boots is wearing boots with the awesome Hunting/Preppy theme that designers have been showcasing this year and last! I didn't get to try it last year, but after seeing Tommy Hilfiger's 2010 Fall lineup of boots I am dying with eagerness to get my hands on a pair of duck boots or some Sorels!

Tommy Hilfiger, Vince Camuto, Ralph Lauren and Giesswein Zwaring

What really strikes me about this whole look is how the designers juxtapose the feminine with the masculine. Duck boots aren't innately sexy, but how Hilfiger adds the heel and the OTK laces just makes them so incredibly irresistible. Monarchy finishes the look by adding whimsical equestrian details like capes, khaki and plaid. Put it all together and you feel like you're going on a fox hunt or you're off to an early century University back East! So classy you don't need a mudroom, horse or rifle to justify owning these boots!

    Making Lemonade

Well, today was just one of those days. You know when you have a really excellent day and everything goes your way and you're just permeating radical happy vibes? I had one of those!

Today I took Renard and Chevalier to the park and we played with some new dogs, and my boys were so well behaved. They stayed out of fights and were very polite around the other dogs. I'm glad my little bastards are learning to be civil gentleman since they're representing me at the park too!

Afterward I went to get a delicious coffee drink at Dutch Bros, a local coffee chain, and was prepared to spend at least $4 when the woman at the counter told me that today my drink would only be a $1! Score! Not only was it frosty and sweet, but a quarter of the price, so with drink in hand I knew my day would only get better...

And it did! With two dogs and my drink in tow I walked through my entire town (which isn't a feat considering my town is kinda dinky) and only received smiles from everybody. I deposited a nice fat check, got complimented on my good taste in hosiery, and even had some tourists take pictures of me and the boys! The dogs and I had a nice little nap in the park and the weather was so fair that I thought about staying there forever...

...Until I got a really bad phone call. The kind of soul-crushing, makes you want to bawl in public kind of calls. Yes it was just one of those days where you have to take the good with the bad. Unfortunately, there seems to be some unwritten law that if you have too much good then life just has to throw some bad at you to even it out. But like they say, "when life throws you lemons you make lemonade," and I'm hoping these lemons aren't the bitter type, so we'll see how tasty I can make this situation.

In any case, the weather is still beautiful and I'm surrounded by good people who love and cherish me, so life really isn't bad at all. I hope you all had wonderful days too, and if not just remember that good comes with the bad too!

    Au Revoir,
